| So was I shocked yesterday when NASCAR handed down penalties?
Yes, I was......but do I think they are deserved? Yup, I do. It's about
time NASCAR has gotten around to getting strict on these guys and
seriously I'm sorry but I don't buy for a minute all this crap everyone
is feeding about the 48 and 5 would never cheat intentionally. Bull
shit, maybe they didn't in this case but come on people. It's a crew
chief's job to cheat, be creative, find that grey area and most of all
its your job not to get caught.
So yay NASCAR for really hitting them hard, but now can we just be
consistent all year and while we are at it can we just come up with
some guidelines for what the penalty will be for infractions, all us
out here would like to know and of course if you actually wrote it
down(and in pen, not pencil like you write that rule book of yours
in....oh wait, does a rule book actually exist?) then we wouldn't have
to worry about this consistency issue that always seems to arise.
And don't feel sorry for these teams, as I've had a Cup crew member say
to me before "give it a few weeks for things to cool down and we'll be
back at it and this time we won't get caught" So ladies and gents, if
you think every car out there is legal......think again, more like they
are all illegal, but hey its what makes it fun and being creative is
what makes it real racing.

| Okay so I'm going to continue my women and racing tangent later......
Cause right now I just got done listening to Mike Helton talk on NASCAR this morning and I've never heard so much BS come out of someone's mouth other than when Brian France opens his mouth.
Come on this "oh they can speak their minds" crap is just stupid.....its absolute bullshit if they speak out to much about you then you make their lives hell. Or in case of shows like NASCAR Nation, the media people, etc you have to make it look good for NASCAR or you'll get kicked off the air or fired from your job a website(proof that money controls shit is what happened to Racingone.com earlier this year....but that could be a whole rant in its self)
And you know I never heard a key thing come out of his mouth......I never heard anything about the fans and doing research about what fans want and to be honest I never heard anything about asking the teams and drivers about what they think either.....geee another reason to say NASCAR is a dictatorship. So come on NASCAR I've got a suggestion for you. Let's have a committee put together that is composed of people from all the different areas that could be affected by NASCAR and let's really ask them and really do some research. Why not have a committee with some fans, some drivers, some crew members, some owners, some track owners, some sponsor people, some people from GM, Ford, Dodge, some people from the cities that NASCAR visits, NASCAR corporate people, people from all the different NASCAR sanctioned series.......I mean why aren't we doing stuff like that? Cause I'm not seeing it done, I'm not seeing me ever get asked for my opinion directly by NASCAR(supposedly this new NASCAR Members club is sorta supposed to be that but its so disorganized right now that I don't think so.....this could be another rant, but if you lauched things back in Feb then you should have been ready cause as I see it from my membership, you aren't) And there are people out there that probably say, why should my opinion matter? But I think it should considering if it wasn't for me the fan then these people wouldn't be making the money they are......and the critics could say that NASCAR is growing, but here is my question back to them, is it good growth? Cause I've got a marketing degree and I learned something big in my college classes, you can grow a lot in a short amount of time but it just might come back to bite you later, so hey who is to say that the growth now is good? I personally don't think it is......but hey if Brian France and his people want to prove me wrong then I say to them offer me the proof, let me come see it, let me see what you do and let me see the stuff that proves I'm wrong cause to be honest I don't think Brian France and NASCAR gives a rats ass about the fans. In fact, I want to know when is the last time Brian France actually interacted with fans that aren't some corporate person, when is the last time he talked and really listened to the people who save all year just to go to the race and sit in the stands, that buy the NASCAR gear and wear it proudly everywhere(cause when is the last time you saw some rich corporate executive sporting NASCAR gear all the time......not often) and think about it like this, does some guy who makes $150,000 a year even know what kind of oil is in his car, does he normally go eat at places like Subway, McD's, does he normally drive a Chevy, Ford or Dodge, does he know what things a maid is using to clean his house? Well geez then if he is the type of fan Brian France hangs out with then he certainly isn't being concerned about getting the fans that will help our sponsors cause I can tell you right now.....this girl who don't make much and saves all year to go to races buys things just cause they sponsor cars, I'm sponsor loyal.....are the fans down the line going to be that way? I'm not thinking so.......
So come on NASCAR let's really get down to it and let us fans in on how you do things, cause right now most of us fans think you people are just stupid so if you want to change our minds then I say let us in.....

| So what do I want to rant on today?
NASCAR and female fans....you know this could become a 2 or 3 part rant.
First off, what is up with all the articles this year talking about drivers looks and saying thats the reason why women like them? Especially Kasey Kahne(who happens to be my driver) I'm sick of getting the look from people when I say I'm a Kasey Kahne fan that says "oh its only about the looks" For pete's sake people the man can drive and he's a great guy, I've met him quite a few times and he's been nothing but nice everytime.....so thats why he replaced others as my favorite driver.
But yea, back to the articles. So I know there are women(or teenagers) out there that it is about the looks but seriously do we need 50 articles about it? NASCAR Illustrated did a big thing on it and I've read a ton of articles lately that refer to it.....can the media jump on something else for a change? I'm sure Dodge loves that he's so marketable(hell yea they do......opps sorry my marketing degree was coming out there for a second) but really I'm sure they wouldn't mind people recognizing him for his racing talent.
Last part of my rant for today....think I'll hit some other parts of this tomorrow. Why is it that it seems if you are a female fan and then you follow that up with "Kasey Kahne is my favorite driver" you lose all credibility? What is up with that shit? I get it in my brother's store, I get it online, I get it just about anywhere I go.....here is my counter back to all those people, want to know my story about how I became a Kasey fan? A friend of the family works at Akins motorsports, so when Kasey started driving for them I started cheering for him and then he grew on me and grew on me and now he is the driver I support week in and week out(along with some other drivers, but Kasey is my fav) Hell the first few Busch races I watched when he started driving for them I didn't even know what he looked like, not that he isn't gorgeous cause he is(but I'll get into that another time) but come on, its about that driving! I also love the people that think I know nothing and then my brother goes "man don't ask me, ask her she knows everything" Yea, see so I know my stuff and hey Marty Smith must like what I have to say since he's used my response the last two weeks in his Last Lap article.....guess you can be a Kasey Kahne fan, be a female and actually know what you are talking about.
In tomorrow's part of this rant......hmmm, who knows what I might get into, I'll continue some on this topic and probably expand it out to some other stuff like female racers, male Kasey Kahne fans and the such, really probably just whatever my mind comes up with. So tune in and we'll have some fun!

| WTF? Okay so some persons comment today at my Kasey board( http://www.kahneskorner.com ) sparked this much needed discussion in my blog....
How far do some people go with fan obsession?
Don't get me wrong, I'm a hardcore fan and I'm loyal big time to sponsors, I sport my fav drivers gear, I defend my driver all the time, I run a site and board for my favorite driver where at that board we put together a scrapbook each year that we give to our driver, I collect all the diecast and i could go on...
But where do I draw the line? Actually thinking I have a chance to marry him.....COME ON people, I'm a fan cause he can drive and he's a great guy. I could go on and on into the looks debate, but I'll save that for another time and just get back to the topic at hand. A person actually said on my board that they had heard Kasey was married or engaged and they would do anything to ruin the relationship? WTF? Where do you people come from? Geeez....let the boy have a life! I, for one, am happy he has a girlfriend right now, he deserves a great girl in his life and if he's happy it probably means good races, which for a fan is a good thing! Especially if that win is coming soon(which it better be)
But seriously, where do people even get off starting rumors like that he's married anyway? As you can tell I'm not a big fan of the getting into a drivers personal life anyway. Maybe it cause I've grown up around the area that is home to most of the teams and if I really wanted the info I could go hang out in a few places and I could get it by seeing it with my own eyes.....but really they are human just like you and me. Would you want your life broadcasted all over the place? Let them be, let them live and cheer for them for their racing and hey if you want to meet them...go to an appearance, just don't expect it to be love at first sight but do expect to get an autograph and meet some nice people(the driver and the fans you are in line with)
I probably could continue to go on and on about this subject and I'm sure it will come up again before long, but until then just let them be!
Later everyone
